About Mai

Mai exists because modern software is loud, needy, and kind of exhausting.

It pings. It nags. It interrupts. It pretends more buttons mean more intelligence. Most of the time it just breaks your flow and then blames you for losing it.

Mai does the opposite.

Mai sits quietly in the background and pays attention to how you actually move through your computer. Not what you write. Not what you read. Just the rhythm. The starts, the stops, the loops, the moments where you drift and the moments where you come back.

Then, when you inevitably stop and think
“What the hell was I just doing?”
Mai helps you find your way back.

No notifications. No productivity theater. No guilt.

You turn it on. You forget about it. It gets better with time.
That’s the whole point.

Mai isn’t here to optimize you.
It’s here to give you your mind back.

Who Mai is For:

About Charles

Hi. I’m Charles. I made Mai.

I’m a philosophical systems engineer from Montana, currently living in Niles, Michigan. I think a lot about how humans actually work, why modern tools feel so overwhelming, and how a little quiet intelligence can go a long way.

Mai came from real life. From getting interrupted. From losing trains of thought. From realizing that most software doesn’t respect how fragile focus actually is.

So I built something different.

If you’re curious, skeptical, or just want to make sure there’s a real human behind this thing, you can reach me directly.
